If a tooth extraction or removal is necessary, our Mississauga dentists will work with you to ensure that the extraction procedure is as comfortable as possible.
Request AppointmentWhat is a Dental Extraction?
A tooth extraction is the process of surgically removing a damaged or decayed tooth.
Our dentists at Southcommon dental believe that, whenever possible, saving a tooth is preferable to an extraction. Extractions will only be performed in cases where the damaged tooth is threatening the health of your mouth or other teeth. Prior to an extraction, every effort will be made to save the tooth.
Extensive Damage
Whenever possible, our Mississauga dentists will work to save a tooth. However, in case of significant injury, gum disease, or excessive decay, an extraction may be necessary.
Your dentist will discuss appropriate tooth replacement options with you, such as dental bridges, crowns, and dentures. In some cases dental implants and bone grafting may be suggested as appropriate tooth replacement options.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom teeth are most often extracted in order to prevent overcrowding and maintain optimal tooth and gum health.
Wisdom teeth can sometimes cause tooth crowding or may grow at an angle. They may also only partially emerge or become impacted. These conditions can lead to pain and discomfort, making extraction the best course of action for preserving a healthy mouth.
